Conor McGregor vows to 'Go again' after UFC 329 knee disaster
Conor McGregor confirmed he will pursue surgery and attempt one more UFC fight after his knee buckled seconds into his welterweight clash with Max Holloway at UFC 329 on Saturday night.
The Irish star threw a single kick before his right leg gave out, collapsing in the cage at T-Mobile Arena and forcing an immediate stoppage. MMA Mania reports that McGregor posted a series of Instagram statements on Sunday declaring his plans to rehab and fulfill the final bout on his UFC deal. "Surgery. Prehab. Return to martial arts practice. Go again. Final fight of the contract. Please God!" he wrote.
McGregor injury fuels conspiracy speculation
Skeptics have questioned whether McGregor arrived in Las Vegas already compromised, fighting just long enough to collect his reported $30 million payday and satisfy contractual obligations. McGregor and his camp have denied those claims. The former two-division champion framed the setback as a test of faith, posting that he remains "a child of God" and walks in "divine health" despite the outcome.
No official diagnosis has been released, but speculation centers on ligament or meniscus damage that could sideline McGregor for months. The UFC has not commented on whether it would fund another mega-payday for a fighter whose last completed bout came in 2021. McGregor's message closed with a promise that "all things work out for my good," per the MMA Mania story, suggesting he views the injury as temporary rather than career-ending.
McGregor's lone completed kick in Las Vegas was his first octagon action since a 2021 trilogy loss to Dustin Poirier that also ended with a leg injury. He has one fight remaining on his current UFC contract.
