Conor McGregor mocks Nate Diaz over Mike Perry loss
Conor McGregor has reignited his rivalry with Nate Diaz, mocking the Stockton native on social media for turning down a fight offer and losing to Mike Perry in a boxing match last year.
McGregor posted on X that he understood why Diaz declined the bout, throwing in a reference to the bare-knuckle fighter who handed Diaz a decision loss. "I see why @NateDiaz209 didn't take the fight lol," McGregor wrote, per Sherdog. "Anyway here's to when I get my hands on you, you lanky streak of piss."
McGregor pushes for Diaz trilogy fight
The former two-division UFC champion closed his post with a trilogy hashtag and a cryptic money demand. McGregor and Diaz split their two UFC meetings, with Diaz submitting McGregor at welterweight in 2016 before McGregor won the rematch five months later by majority decision.
Diaz has not fought in MMA since his contract expired with the UFC in 2022. He dropped a ten-round decision to Jake Paul in a boxing match that August, then lost to Perry under the same ruleset in July 2024. McGregor, meanwhile, has been sidelined since breaking his leg against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in July 2021.
No date or promotion has been attached to a potential third meeting. Diaz recently told reporters the show goes on despite retirement speculation.
