Carmouche Gets Bishop Rematch For New PFL Flyweight Title
Liz Carmouche will defend her position as the division's top contender when she meets Jena Bishop in a rematch for the inaugural PFL women's flyweight title Oct. 16 at Wintrust Arena in Chicago.
The bout, first reported by Sherdog, marks the first new championship introduced since the PFL's merger with Most Valuable Promotions. Carmouche stopped Bishop in the third round when they met last August, but Bishop has since notched first-round finishes over Borena Tsertsvadze and Ariane Lipski da Silva. Carmouche extended her winning streak to four with a submission of Viviane Araujo in June.
PFL Returns To Chicago Market With New Championship
PFL CEO John Martin framed the event as another step in the promotion's expansion. "Chicago has become an important market for PFL, and we're excited to return with another championship event for our fans," he said in a press release. "The inaugural PFL Women's Flyweight World Championship is another milestone for our organization and a testament to the incredible talent competing across our roster."
Carmouche enters with a 26-8 record. Bishop stands at 11-3. The October card will be PFL's second championship event in Chicago this year.
