Jones Accuses Cormier Of Jealousy Over GOAT Debate
Jon Jones has accused Daniel Cormier of jealousy after his longtime rival once again left him out of the UFC GOAT conversation.
Cormier recently argued that Jones' performance-enhancing drug violations disqualify him from the top honor, per Sherdog. Instead, the former two-division champion pointed to Khabib Nurmagomedov, citing the undefeated Russian's clean record. Jones responded on social media, calling the take flattering but rooted in envy.
Jones Defends Career, Addresses Hamill Loss
When Cormier brought up Jones' only official defeat, a 2009 disqualification loss to Matt Hamill for illegal elbows, Jones pushed back. He wrote that he joined the UFC so early he did not know the rulebook and had never heard the term twelve-to-six elbow until that night. Jones added that he has spent his entire career in main events fighting for world titles.
"My brother, Daniel Cormier, your jealousy runs so deep through your blood," Jones wrote, according to the social media post reported by Sherdog. "I honestly pray that the good Lord heals you from your envy and that, one day, you won't feel the need to do interviews like this."
The exchange continues one of the sport's most bitter feuds. Jones beat Cormier twice for the heavyweight/" class="internal-link text-bone underline decoration-ash/30 hover:decoration-gold underline-offset-2">light heavyweight strap, though their second meeting was overturned to a no contest after Jones tested positive for turinabol. The heavyweight champion has not announced his next fight.
