Caleb Plant Vs. Jose Armando Resendiz Preview

Caleb Plant will take on Jose Armando Resendiz on May 31 as we preview this upcoming fight. 

Plant is the current WBA Interim Super Middleweight Champion. He will make the first defense of his title, which he secured after stopping Trevor McCumby in his previous fight. He is now in a mandatory position for the winner of Canelo Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford, who face off for undisputed in September.

Plant has not been the most active fighter, having only fought three times in three years. However, a win puts him back into big-time boxing, as the former IBF Super Middleweight Champion aims for another title. Resendiz’s current boxing record stands at 15-2-0. He has 11 knockouts to his name, something Plant will have to be wary of. Resendiz has stopped three of his last four opponents, having beaten Fernando Paliza in his last bout. 

Pre-Fight

"He’s tough, but tough ain’t enough. I’m gonna go in there and do what I do. He’s gonna try his damnedest. But I’m gonna get the job done regardless. I’m gonna get my hand raised, and I plan on it being in fashion, but regardless of what happens, we’re gonna hear the words and still. I’m looking for the biggest tests. Munguia was busy with Bruno (Surace), Canelo was busy with (William) Scull. Edgar Berlanga is part of the witness protection program when it comes to me I guess, and I’ve been begging for that fight, asking for that fight and not much interest in it," Plant said

But I didn’t take this fight to just be another name on his resume. He’s going to remember my name forever," Resendiz stated
