Brown On Perry's Choice To Fight Danis Over Till

Retired UFC welterweight Matt Brown says Mike Perry made the right call taking a fight against Dillon Danis over returning to BKFC for a long-discussed matchup with Darren Till.

Perry built a 6-0 bare-knuckle record with four stoppages and became the face of BKFC through wins over Luke Rockhold and Eddie Alvarez, but has not competed in the promotion in nearly a year. He fought Nate Diaz on the first MVP MMA card and now meets Danis on Saturday in Florida, per MMA Fighting.

Why Perry Chose Danis Over BKFC Return

Brown, speaking on The Fighter vs. The Writer podcast, said Perry is capitalizing on his name at the right time. "I think fighting a Dillon Danis, he's just capitalizing on his name. I'm sure he's getting paid a great amount for it," Brown said. "He's probably thinking this is going to be easier than doing a bare-knuckle fight. If he goes bare-knuckle, he's probably going to be fighting a Darren Till or some killer."

Brown noted that Danis, a world-class grappler with only three MMA fights, presents far less danger than Till, a former UFC title challenger who scored a knockout in his BKFC debut. The risk-reward calculation favors the Danis fight. "Dillon Danis isn't really that hard of a fight for him outside of Dillon may catch him in a submission," Brown added.

BKFC president David Feldman has said he expects Perry to return to the promotion eventually. Brown agreed, saying Perry will make his money Saturday and likely head back to bare-knuckle. Brown also acknowledged that Danis brings eyeballs despite his limited MMA resume, calling attention the currency of combat sports today.

Brown picked Perry to win but said Danis has motivation to prove doubters wrong in his most significant MMA fight to date. The bout takes place Saturday in Florida.
