Bella Mir's Mom Apologises After Rant On Contender Series Loss

Jennifer Mir has left social media after an alcohol-fueled outburst directed at Alex Apodaca, the fighter who upset her stepdaughter Bella Mir at Dana White's Contender Series this week.

Mir, who married former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir in late 2024, posted an apology on Instagram before deactivating her account. She said she reacted to death threats aimed at Bella after the 23-year-old dropped her first professional fight. "I went on to Bella's comments and saw comments telling my daughter to die and kill herself," she wrote, according to MMA Mania. "I reacted as purely an emotional and protective mother after seeing my daughter go through such a hard loss and let the alcohol and adrenaline get the better of me."

Apology Follows Criticism Of Judges And Opponent

Mir admitted her initial comments were out of line and took aim at Apodaca and the judges who scored the fight. She issued a direct apology to Apodaca, her team, and the fans who called out the rant. "Alex fought a brilliant fight and earned that win fair and square and deserves nothing but respect," she added. Mir said her remarks do not reflect Bella or her training camp and asked fans to direct their frustration at her instead of the fighter.

Bella Mir entered the Contender Series bout with four years of hype from UFC CEO Dana White and the burden of being Frank Mir's daughter. She fell to 4-1 after Apodaca handed her a decision loss on the August 25 card at the APEX in Las Vegas. Apodaca was forced to cut her post-fight celebration short, telling reporters she had work scheduled the next morning.

Jennifer Mir said she is stepping back from social media to let Bella focus on her recovery. The younger Mir has not announced a timeline for her return to competition.
