Bektemir Melikuziev Vs. Darius Fulghum Preview
Bektemir Melikuziev boxes Darius Fulghum on May 30 as we preview the upcoming fight.
Melikuziev arrives into the fight on an eight-fight win streak. This was after he suffered a stoppage loss to Gabe Rosado in 2021. The win streak included a win over Rosado in the rematch. He enters the bout with a win over David Stevens via a split decision last year. Meanwhile, Fulghum is undefeated with a 14-0 record. 12 of his wins have come by way of knockout. He has stopped his last two opponents in Christopher Pearson and Winfred Harris Jr., respectively. The bout is a WBA Super Middleweight Title eliminator, meaning the winner takes themselves a step closer to facing the winner of Canelo Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford, who face off in September.
Pre-Fight
"I’m happy to be back, in a meaningful fight. My goal remains the same – the world championship belt and this fight is for the right to challenge the champion, and that’s what I’ve been waiting for," Melikuziev said
"My mentality for this fight is to make a statement that makes me an undeniable force in the super middleweight division. I’m extremely thankful to Golden Boy and the WBA for this opportunity. This is an opportunity that I don’t take for granted. I’m checking all boxes so on May 30th the fans will see the best version of DFG," Fulghum said
