Featherweight Marcio Barbosa added 25.5 pounds between Friday's weigh-in and fight night at UFC Sacramento, entering the cage at welterweight on his way to a first-round knockout of Ryan Kuse.

The California State Athletic Commission released fight night weights for the Aug. 22 card at Golden 1 Center, with Barbosa's jump from 145.5 pounds to 171 pounds representing the largest gain on the card. Kuse weighed just 153.2 pounds at fight time, according to MMA Fighting, giving the Brazilian a 17.8-pound advantage inside the Octagon.

Barbosa's Rehydration Dwarfs Main Event Middleweights

Lightweights Stan Dorsainvil and Gauge Young also put on major weight, gaining 23.5 and 24.7 pounds respectively. Main eventers Gregory Rodrigues and Anthony Hernandez rehydrated more modestly — Rodrigues went from 185 to 204.4 pounds while Hernandez climbed from 186 to 202.2 pounds, meaning the challenger actually weighed less than the champion on fight night despite looking smaller in the cage.

California is among the few commissions that publicly releases same-day weights as part of an effort to discourage extreme cutting. Barbosa's 18 percent body weight swing ranks among the most dramatic in recent UFC history, though several other Sacramento fighters also crossed into higher weight classes overnight. Mason Jones and MarQuel Mederos each added more than 21 pounds after making lightweight, while middleweights Jackson McVey and Wes Schultz both topped 207 pounds after weighing in at 185 and 186.

Heavyweight Serghei Spivac and light heavyweight Kennedy Nzechukwu were the rare fighters who actually lost weight between Friday and Saturday, dropping 2.4 pounds each. UFC Sacramento marked the promotion's first trip to the Golden 1 Center since 2023.
