Aspinall Ends Podcast, Quits Social Media After Title Drama

Tom Aspinall has shut down his YouTube podcast and is stepping away from social media as he recovers from the eye injury that forced him to vacate the UFC heavyweight title.

The former champion wrapped up his podcast last Wednesday, according to MMA Mania, telling listeners he needs to focus entirely on getting cleared to fight again. The eye damaged in his no-contest with Ciryl Gane at UFC 321 in Abu Dhabi continues to require treatment, with no return date set and some observers suggesting retirement is on the table.

Aspinall On Podcast Decision And Recovery Focus

"I mean, I've really enjoyed it, but moving forward, I don't think I'll have enough time to focus on podcasting for now," Aspinall said on the final episode. "So maybe we'll come back to it for one day, but for right now, I'm just focusing on getting back to fighting, that's my focus. That's all I wanna do. So thanks to everyone for listening."

Co-host Charlie Moose confirmed Aspinall is off social media indefinitely. "As Tom explained earlier this week, he is stepping away from social media for the time being while he focuses fully on his recovery," Moose said, per the report. "It's obviously not been the year any of us would have wanted, especially Tom, and ultimately his health has to come before everything else."

The heavyweight title remains vacant following Aspinall's decision to relinquish the belt after failing to secure medical clearance. Moose said no regular content will appear on the podcast channel until Aspinall completes his recovery.
