Mokaev On UFC Offer: 'They Wasted Two Years Of My Life'

Muhammad Mokaev says UFC executives have strung him along for two years with empty promises of a return.

The undefeated flyweight, who left the promotion in 2024 after a dull decision win over Manel Kape, told BBC he was assured multiple times that meeting specific benchmarks would earn him a new contract. He has since fought eight times, recording one submission and three knockouts while capturing the BRAVE FC belt. None of it has been enough.

"Hunter made me a promise," Mokaev said in the interview, per MMA Mania. "They basically wasted two years of my life. That's how I feel right now. I don't think what they are doing is right." He said matchmakers told him after his second UFC fight to stop wrestling because "we don't want these decision guys." His next three bouts ended in submissions. The final two on his contract reverted to grinding decisions that sealed his fate.

The UFC recently offered Mokaev $10,000 to face grappling champion Mikey Musumeci under the UFC BJJ banner, according to the report. When he asked if winning would reopen the door to the octagon, he was told the offer was separate. Mokaev declined, responding with what BBC described as multiple expletives.

Dana White said publicly in 2024 that rival promotion PFL could sign Mokaev after reports surfaced that he was negotiating with them before his UFC deal expired. No date has been announced for Mokaev's next fight.
