Arman Tsarukyan confirms he'll buy Gaethje promised RAM truck
Arman Tsarukyan will follow through on his promise to buy Justin Gaethje a RAM truck after the latter's fourth-round stoppage of Ilia Topuria at UFC White House.
Tsarukyan had wagered $1 million on Gaethje as a heavy underdog, netting a $5.7 million payout when Topuria's corner stopped the lightweight title fight Sunday. Before the bout, the Armenian lightweight vowed to gift Gaethje a truck if he pulled off the upset. Speaking on The Ariel Helwani Show, Tsarukyan confirmed the delivery is coming. "Of course," he said, per Sherdog. "I just checked what color he wants... I'm competing on July 18 in St. Louis, and after St. Louis, I'm going to bring him a truck. RAM. And RAM is the UFC's official sponsor, maybe they're gonna give me discount 15 to 20%. If they don't give me discount, it's OK. It's not that expensive."
Tsarukyan eyeing title shot after Topuria loss
Gaethje's manager Ali Abdelaziz replied on social media that he would send Tsarukyan the specific color and model. The truck handoff will come after Tsarukyan competes in a wrestling match against Colby Covington at RAF 11 in St. Louis next month.
Tsarukyan has been frozen out of the lightweight title picture since withdrawing from a scheduled fight against Islam Makhachev last year. Topuria won the vacant belt by beating Charles Oliveira after Makhachev moved to welterweight, then insisted on defending against Paddy Pimblett rather than Tsarukyan. Gaethje beat Pimblett for an interim strap before unifying against Topuria.
The upset result reopens the division for the 23-3 Tsarukyan, widely considered the top contender before being passed over. His next UFC booking remains unannounced.
