Raul Rosas Jr. wins ACBJJ grappling title in Moscow upset
UFC bantamweight Raul Rosas Jr. captured the inaugural ACBJJ All-Stars title Saturday in Moscow, submitting Khasan Magomedsharipov with a rear-naked choke in a no-gi grappling match.
Rosas Jr., who carries a five-fight win streak in the Octagon, had been scheduled to face Khasan's brother Zabit Magomedsharipov in the main event. The elder Magomedsharipov withdrew with an injury days before the bout, per Sherdog, forcing Khasan to step in on short notice. Khasan, an unbeaten PFL featherweight at 11-0, had not competed in grappling at this level before.
Rosas Jr. and Zabit Magomedsharipov face off after Moscow finish
Following the finish, Rosas Jr. and Zabit met in the center of the mat for a face-off. Zabit, who has not competed since a 2019 decision win over Calvin Kattar in a UFC Fight Night headliner, is expected to return to grappling competition soon. The staredown suggested the originally scheduled matchup could still happen at a future ACBJJ event.
Rosas Jr., nicknamed "El Nino Problema," is coming off UFC wins over Vince Morales and Rob Font at bantamweight. The 19-year-old Mexican-American fighter now holds a 12-1 professional record and has added a grappling title to his resume while continuing to climb the UFC ranks.
The ACBJJ 21 card took place in Russia with no announced date yet for Rosas Jr.'s next UFC appearance or a potential rematch with Zabit under grappling rules.
