Anthony Joshua-Moses Itauma eyed for Nigeria in 2027
Promoter Ezekiel Adamu is targeting an all-British heavyweight clash between Anthony Joshua and Moses Itauma in Nigeria in 2027, according to ESPN.
Adamu, who runs Balmoral Promotions, envisions the bout taking place after both fighters complete scheduled contests with Tyson Fury. Joshua faces Fury in a rematch in September following their May meeting in Saudi Arabia. Itauma is expected to challenge Fury for the unified heavyweight titles later this year.
Why Nigeria for Joshua-Itauma showdown
Joshua holds dual British and Nigerian heritage, while Itauma was born in England to Nigerian parents. Adamu believes a Nigeria venue would capitalise on both fighters' connections to the West African nation and draw massive interest.
The 2027 timeline depends on how each man fares against Fury. Joshua lost a unanimous decision to Fury in May. Itauma, still unbeaten at 22, stopped Agit Kabayel in April to position himself as the division's rising threat.
No official talks have begun, but Adamu told ESPN the fight would be one of the biggest ever staged on African soil. A potential Joshua-Itauma clash in Nigeria would mark the first heavyweight title-level bout held in the country.
