Anthony Cacace Vs. Leigh Wood Predictions – ‘He Wins Convincingly By Stoppage'
Ex-world champions Anthony Cacace and Leigh Wood box this weekend in their junior lightweight clash, as boxing insiders gave their predictions.
Cacace defeated two-time featherweight champion Josh Warrington last year in impressive fashion, as he secured a unanimous decision win. The win took his record to 23-1, with 8 KOs to his name. He picked up the IBF Junior Lightweight Title, but vacated it in the search for bigger fights. His only loss came all the way back in 2017 against Martin J Ward.
Wood also defeated Warrington in his last fight too, with a stoppage win. However, the fight was in 2023, as Wood has been inactive. He left Matchroom Boxing after that win, as he signed with Queensbury Promotions. Wood will move up a weight class, having beaten Warrington at featherweight in the fight in a defense of his then WBA Featherweight Belt. Here is how boxing insiders saw the fight playing out.
Cacace Vs. Wood
"Anto is getting in there with proper momentum, proper activity and the belief of a champion. I believe Anto wins convincingly, possibly by stoppage because Anto also punches hard. They both punch hard, yes, but I think Anto’s skillset is better. I think he’s the better boxer out of the both of them. Leigh’s been through the mill a lot of times now and there’s only so many times you can do that. I’m leaning heavily towards Anto in this fight," Michael Conlan said
"It’ll be an interesting fight. I’m picking Cacace at this moment in time, Leigh has been out of the ring for a long time, obviously he’s moving up in weight, but Cacace has got some good form going for him at the minute. Leigh is tough and unless Cacace can go up a gear, I think Cacace will beat him on points," Josh Warrington stated
"I’m telling you now, this will be fight of the year. It has fight of the year written all over it. This will be The Ring fight of the year for 2025," Frank Warren stated
