UFC play-by-play man Jon Anik told fans to focus on Ian Machado Garry's record instead of his outside-the-cage controversies ahead of the Irishman's welterweight title shot at UFC 330.
Garry drew a cold reception at this week's UFC 330 press conference despite his 17-1 record and a title fight against reigning champion Islam Makhachev on Saturday. Anik, speaking on The Anik & Florian Podcast, said Garry has been unfairly judged by sections of the fanbase more interested in his personal life than his fighting resume, according to MMA Junkie.

What Anik Said About Garry's Reputation
"He really has been underappreciated by every pocket of this fanbase that would rather focus on his wife and other things," Anik said. The veteran broadcaster acknowledged Garry's occasional social missteps but praised his alignment with Diego Lima and Charles Oliveira's camp and his competitive showing in a split-decision loss to Shavkat Rakhmonov last year.
Makhachev enters UFC 330 chasing Anderson Silva's record winning streak. Garry will attempt to halt that run despite limited fan support heading into the biggest fight of his career.
