Alex Pereira's Scary Heavyweight Power

Alex Pereira showed off his frightening power as he prepares to fight at the UFC Freedom 250 card against Ciryl Gane on June 14.

Pereira will fight for the interim heavyweight title, knowing a win means he is the first UFC fighter to secure world championships in three different weight classes. The video below shows Pereira weighing around 250 pounds, as he hits power shots to the body and head of his trainer Glover Teixeira. The winner of this fight will walk away with a likely title shot against undisputed champion Tom Aspinall.

Implications

The interim title was created following a medical setback for Tom Aspinall, who is currently recovering from bilateral traumatic Brown’s syndrome. The condition was sustained during Aspinall’s October 2025 clash with Ciryl Gane, resulting from accidental eye pokes. Aspinall has reported persistent double vision and restricted eye movement, forcing him to take an extended hiatus from the cage. While Aspinall remains the undisputed champion, the winner of Pereira vs. Gane will dominate the headlines for now. However, Tom has said he wants the winner.

“I mean, who else is going to fight? The division’s on its ass. There’s not many big fights to make, is there? So they’ve got to do what they’ve got to do. Obviously, I want to fight the winner of that. Just waiting now to get the green light, the ‘all clear’ from the doctor to start training properly again. As soon as we can start training properly again, full contact in the gym, we will be getting a fight date booked to fight the winner. As soon as the doctor clears me, we’ll let the UFC know and we’ll be looking to book a fight soon as possible,” Aspinall said
