Alex Pereira cleared after UK seminar meet-and-greet controversy
Alex Pereira was not at fault for the meet-and-greet issues that sparked backlash during his recent United Kingdom tour, according to the event organizers.
Joyagear, the company behind the seminar series, issued a statement defending the UFC heavyweight/" class="internal-link text-bone underline decoration-ash/30 hover:decoration-gold underline-offset-2">light heavyweight champion after attendees at a Keighley, England, session complained that Pereira refused individual photographs and autographs despite paying for meet-and-greet access. Per Sherdog, the organizers said Pereira was told only about a one-hour seminar — which he delivered — and was never informed that photo ops or signings had been advertised.
Organizers take full responsibility, issue refunds
In a detailed Instagram post, Joyagear wrote that the issues stemmed from internal miscommunication. "Alex Pereira was not at fault," the statement read. "He was not late, and he completed the seminar exactly as it had been communicated to him." The organizers added that Pereira "acted based on the information provided" and was unaware of the additional expectations.
All meet-and-greet ticket holders are receiving full refunds, and seminar attendees who did not get the advertised photo opportunity or autograph have also been refunded. Joyagear apologized for the shortcomings and said the remaining tour dates will proceed as planned.
Pereira holds a 13-3 professional MMA record and has been touring Europe for seminars between title defenses.
