Adesanya Switches Gyms After Three Straight Losses
Israel Adesanya has left City Kickboxing and relocated to Freestyle MMA Performance Centre in Sydney as he prepares for his next bout.
The former middleweight champion was spotted training at the Australian facility alongside featherweight titlist Alexander Volkanovski and rising contender Mauricio Ruffy, per Sherdog. Ruffy posted footage on social media showing Adesanya working at the gym, which has become a hub for several UFC fighters.
Adesanya's First Camp Since City Kickboxing Split
The move comes after Adesanya was stopped three times in a row, most recently by Joe Pyfer via second-round knockout in March. He has not won a fight since reclaiming the 185-pound strap from Alex Pereira more than three years ago.
Adesanya appears to have a fight scheduled based on recent social media activity from his dietitian, who shared a video labeled "a day of eating in pre-camp." Ruffy himself switched to the Sydney gym after leaving Fighting Nerds following a loss to Benoit St. Denis and has since rattled off two straight wins, including a knockout of Michael Chandler at UFC Freedom 250.
No opponent or date has been announced for Adesanya's return.
