Abdelaziz Calls Out Topuria For Nurmagomedov's UFC Debut

Manager Ali Abdelaziz wants Usman Nurmagomedov matched with former UFC lightweight champion Ilia Topuria if the unbeaten PFL fighter lands in the Octagon.

Nurmagomedov, who finished his PFL contract one week ago with a 22-0 record, is now a free agent and the biggest unsigned fighter in the sport. MMA Mania reports that Abdelaziz is pushing hard for a Topuria bout to welcome his client to the UFC roster, citing existing tension between the two fighters.

History Between Nurmagomedov And Topuria

Topuria recently lost the lightweight title to Justin Gaethje at UFC's White House event. Abdelaziz told reporters that the Georgian and Nurmagomedov already have a history that makes the matchup natural. "The fight I want, if he goes to the UFC, is Ilia Topuria for his first fight," Abdelaziz said. "There's already beef there. Ilia created the beef."

The manager went further, predicting a decisive finish for his fighter. "I'm telling you straight up, I think Usman will make Ilia quit. He'll hit him, kick him, and knock him out flat," he added.

Whether UFC matchmakers will grant a former champion as Nurmagomedov's debut opponent remains to be seen. The undefeated Dagestani carries massive name recognition through his connection to Khabib Nurmagomedov and would bring immediate attention to any bout the promotion books.
