Mike Tyson Shows Off Speed And Explosiveness In Media Workout

Jake Paul and Mike Tyson’s media workouts took place during fight week before their bout on November 15.

They will fight on Netflix, as the platform broadcasts the first boxing fight in its history. Paul is full of confidence after knocking out Mike Perry in his last fight. But this is a new test, as he will fight at heavyweight for the first time. There are questions about whether the extra weight will slow him down. He is the favorite and has stated that he will call for the Canelo Alvarez bout after facing Tyson.

Paul Vs. Tyson

There are concerns that Tyson is taking a big risk by coming back at the age of 58. Evander Holyfield did a similar thing in 2021 when he returned to fight Victor Belfort. The 58-year-old Holyfield aimed to turn back the clock. But it was clear from the first round that this was not going to be the case. He was sent to the canvas in the first round and got repeatedly hit as the referee stopped the fight.

Tyson withdrew from the initial Jake Paul fight on July 20 after an inflamed ulcer. He confirmed that he had lost a significant amount of weight, could not eat properly, and felt that he could have died. However, he has shown off numerous training clips to downplay any worries that he will not be ready. His last pro fight was against Kevin McBride in 2005, as he came out with a loss. But he did have a 2020 exhibition with Roy Jones Jr., which ended in a draw.

In the co-main event, Katie Taylor defends her Undisputed Junior Welterweight Title against Amanda Serrano. Taylor won the first fight in a split decision. Since then, she has lost to Chantelle Cameron. However, she beat Cameron in the rematch to become undisputed at 140. Serrano has five wins on the spin since the Taylor loss. She beat Stevie Morgan in her last fight.

Paul is reportedly set to earn $40 million from the event, while Tyson will earn $20 million. Taylor will earn $6.1 million. Meanwhile, Serrano will earn north of $10 million as a fighter/promoter. The fighters can also earn more through sponsorship deals outside of that. Their earnings could also increase if their careers take off to a new level.

Tyson showed his trademark speed and power. However, he did appear tired, which could impact the fight under the bright lights. Paul looked over confident as he arrived with red hair and a chicken on his head. But he seemed slower than usual, which may have been due to the extra weight. Taylor and Serrano were in top condition, setting the narrative for a thrilling rematch between two of the best female fighters in the sport. The media workouts took place, with fans having plenty to say.
