Mike Perry Challenges Nate Diaz And Jake Paul To A Boxing Match

BKFC’s Mike Perry is willing to face Jake Paul and Nate Diaz in a boxing fight.

His comments arrived after his second-round TKO win at BKFC 56 over the former UFC Lightweight Champion Eddie Alvarez. In the aftermath, Perry was asked over where his future lies. He remains undefeated under the BKFC banner with a record of 4-0-0. Although he did target Jorge Masvidal and Anthony Pettis, Perry doubted whether the MMA fighters would crossover into the bare-knuckle world. That is why he was open to entering the sport of boxing to get those big names.

Perry On Boxing

“I want to fight bare-knuckle. [And] I love it. I do love it. At the same time, I’m still interested to maybe put a boxing glove on and Nate boxed Jake and it didn’t go his way. So a fight with me, definitely makes sense. I would love to fight a Nathan Diaz but I think I win that. The Masvidal fight is intriguing because he can hurt me bad, I think. That’s what gets me up in the morning. That’s what makes me work,” Perry said

Given the amount he can generate within boxing, getting Paul to fight under BKFC is unlikely. However, he has shown that he is willing to crossover into MMA by offering Nate Diaz a $10 million offer to fight him under MMA rules in the PFL. Those comments were backed up by PFL’s Donn Davis, who was willing to go up to $15 million to make the fight.

But Perry’s comments have shown that BKFC is a sport not to be taken lightly. The win over Alvarez was also clouded by an orbital bone injury sustained by the Brazilian, which will keep him out for some time. Meanwhile, a fight with Darren Till has failed to materialize.

Other Options

Perry was clear about how he had wanted to face Till. But the latter appeared reluctant to do so despite being a free agent after leaving the UFC. But in a sport that poses more risk and less financial reward than boxing, getting those names into BKFC will not be easy, as Perry outlined.

“Wouldn’t that be great? Even a guy like him, I would want him to have a try out, a practice shot. Some guy to beat up. To go in there and have your first one [before fighting me].

“I was excited about Eddie because he had the experience in it. He fought a fast, beefy Chad Mendes but Chad Mendes was a quitter. In that fight, he did break down, he just didn’t want that sixth round. I think they would have gave them a sixth round but Chad didn’t want it so they gave it to Eddie. Chad was done. I learned a lot from my first one so I would want no excuses [from Darren Till],” Till stated
