Masvidal Says McGregor Won't Fight Again - 'Can’t Do Cocaine'

Jorge Masvidal has doubts that Conor McGregor will ever fight again.

His comments come just shortly after McGregor confirmed that he would be fighting Dan Hooker on February 1 in Saudi Arabia. The news surprised fans since it came spontaneously while he was exiting a BKFC event in Spain. Dana White has not confirmed this, leaving speculation over whether it will actually go ahead. Hooker has since then responded by confirming that there are talks underway as there is hope that the fight will go ahead. McGregor has not been in the Octagon since his 2021 defeat against Dustin Poirier.

That was his third defeat out of his last four previous UFC fights as he came out second best at UFC 264. He broke his leg in the process. He was scheduled to take on Michael Chandler at UFC 303 on June 29. Those plans were scuppered after McGregor withdrew with a broken toe. It was a massive blow since their rivalry had begun during their time as competing coaches on the TUF 31 series.

Masvidal On McGregor

Chandler managed to outwit McGregor as his team won the coach’s challenge. Meanwhile, McGregor got his own back in the individual coach’s challenge. Chandler has now moved on, as he will take on Charles Oliveria at UFC 309 in their rematch. Masvidal had plenty to say about that, calling out McGregor’s treatment of Chandler.

“Conor, under no circumstances, is fighting me. He’s backed out of fighting Chandler — poor little Chandler, I don’t know how many times he let that dude eat dust. Imagine me? That guy is never fighting me. He can’t do enough cocaine to…get [jacked] up to fight me,” Masvidal said

Masvidal then turned his attention towards McGregor’s actual chances of returning. McGregor has been criticized for his behavior outside of the octagon. He has repeatedly been seen drinking his Forge Irish Stout and having cigars. One incident occurred during a live stream with betting company Duelbits. McGregor was seen opening a can live on the stream while also appearing to smoke what appeared to be marijuana.

Will He Fight?

The Irishman has failed to show discipline, something which made him a two-weight UFC champion. That has cast doubt on whether he will ever fight again, regardless of whether he has two fights left on his UFC deal. McGregor also has further opportunities in boxing, which would earn him more money. There is also a chance to fight in BKFC, the organization where he is the power owner, which would once again generate more money. Masvidal felt that McGregor would not ever fight again.

“We’ll see him at a bar and shit. Are you talking about in the cage? Like as an official or to be judges? You mean fighting? I don’t think so. I hope he proves me wrong but I don’t think so,” Masvidal stated
