John Ryder Wants A Big Fight With GGG
John Ryder is keen on facing Gennady Golovkin at the back end of the year.
Ryder’s last fight was a unanimous-decision loss to Canelo Alvarez, as the Brit’s performance was praised in that he managed to go the distance in Mexico.
And at the age of 35, the Ryder gained a much-need confidence boost. So much so that the boxer is now keen on facing GGG. The latter is now 41 years old, who recently vacated all of his belts at 160 as question marks remain over whether or not the boxer will walk away from the sport.
After all, his last fight was a unanimous-decision defeat to Canelo. With that being said, John was keen to test himself against another big name.
Ryder On GGG
“I’m hoping November, December time. There were talks of Golovkin and Munguia. I’m just in this for the biggest and the best fights that I can get and stick around for a couple of other fights. I’m fight by fight at the moment.
“His timing & speed might not be there, but his power is always going to be there. So he’s always going to be a dangerous opponent. I think in previous years, we’ve seen a slight decline [in Golovkin] with the Canelo loss. Listen, it’s the end of the hard three fights. He’s been a great champion and ambassador of the sport. For me, as a fan, it would be an honor to share the ring with him,” Ryder
Ryder’s Chances
Nevertheless, if that fight does not happen, then GGG may have other options depending on if he is still hungry to face the big names.
Fights against the Charlo brothers or even Caleb Plant could equally prove entertaining fights that would sell. But when it comes to Ryder, the Brit is not well known. And that is why Ryder could struggle to secure such a fight.
But even if the bout does not happen, Ryder has had a taste of big-time boxing. And there is no getting away from that. You can stay up-to-date with the latest happenings in the world of boxing and MMA by visiting boxingblitz right here.
