Joe Joyce Vs. Derek Chisora Predictions – ‘Going To Be Brutal’

Joe Joyce and Derek Chisora face off on Saturday, with both their careers on the line, as boxing insiders gave their predictions
Joyce bounced back from his losses to Zhilei Zhang with a win over Kash Ali in his last fight. The Zhang losses showed that Joyce’s chin was no longer the same. The fight against Ali took him until the final round to get the stoppage. At 38, Joyce also knows a loss damages his career. If he desires to fight in Saudi Arabia, he must stop Chisora. Given that Dereck will continue to come forward, he will test Joyce’s chin.
As for Chisora, he is 40 years old and enters the fight with two wins out of his last six bouts. There is an increasing narrative on him to retire after suggestions that he is showing early signs of CTE. He enters the bout with a win over Gerald Washington in his last fight. However, losses to Joseph Parker, Tyson Fury, and Oleksandr Usyk show Chisora is not at the top level. With no world title aspirations possible, Chisora knows another loss could be his last bout. Here are some predictions from boxing insiders over how the fight will play out.
Joyce Vs. Chisora
“I think Derek has been great for boxing, and he’s still got the passion and the love for it, but just not sure how much he has left. You know, and it’s tough. It’s tough. Joyce is a big, strong man. He just keeps coming forward. But who knows?
“It would be interesting to see what those fights with Zhang took out of them, you know, we saw him with Kash Ali and got to win, but it wasn’t the most entertaining fight. You know, listen, I’ve had fights in my career where I haven’t been entertaining, but I’ll just Joyce’s fight. Fireworks,” Joseph Parker
“Fireworks. I think, I think I’m going to go down do a Dell Boy, maybe, maybe next week, think week after maybe, yeah, good fight like, I’m not disrespectful to say that these guys, a lot of people have said, Oh, these guys are, like, is over before, and don’t know why the fight each other, whatnot. Don’t sleep on Derek. Turn your eyes, ignore Derek and think that he’s not in the building.
“Trust me, he’s here and he’s present, and he’s in the gym every day, every morning. He’s fit, he’s strong, yeah, he’s been in some battles, but he’s game as anything. And then this heavyweight division approach, if you fit and you’re strong, you can look after yourself. You ain’t gonna do bad Joe Joyce as well. Them last couple performances. Yeah, there have not been vintage, but it is Joe Joyce. But any given moment, he’s a tough, nice word for anyone. He does not stop,” Frazer Clarke
Further Predictions
“That’s going to be a brutal fight. Both those guys don’t take a backwards step. They know one way, and that’s all out aggression, all out war, both massive punchers. Both have always taken a great shot, although there’s probably cracks there now at this stage in their lives and career.
“I think it’ll be a barn burner for as long as it lasts, I don’t think it’ll be an easy watch, because it could be pretty brutal. I just hope whatever happens, I hope Del Boy retires after because he’s had an unbelievable career. He’s got nothing to prove. He’s getting older. He must have plenty of dough in the bank, I’d love to see me him enjoy his money,” Matt Macklin
“It’s a little scrap that, a couple of the boys are veterans of the game now. And that is another fan, friendly, fan, friendly scrap. And listen, I like both men. Joe’s obviously, I’m closer to Joe. He’s my friend, and I’ll be backing him in the fight,” Johnny fisher
“You know, I get the arguments. I mean, Derek’s going to make his own decisions. I think that when you talk about whether he should continue fighting, style, match ups are important. And although Joe Joyce is a strong man, he’s not sharp, he’s not fast, and it’s not like the style is going to cause Derek’s or a problem. So I don’t mind the fight,” Eddie Hearn
