Hearn Urges Fury vs. Joshua For This Year

Eddie Hearn is desperate to make Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua fight this year, saying it must be delivered.

The two boxes are coming off their respective losses, meaning that it is the only fight to be made. Fury suffered a second defeat to Oleksandr Usyk, who defeated him by a unanimous decision. That was Fury’s second consecutive loss, meaning that he is no closer to becoming the undisputed heavyweight champion. Joshua, meanwhile, missed out on becoming a three-time world champion after Daniel Dubois knocked him out. He dropped Joshua three times before ending the fight in the fifth round.

Fury Vs. Joshua

The defeat also meant that Joshua missed out on becoming a step closer to fighting for undisputed. The two fighters now have question marks over their futures. Joshua has already said that he plans on fighting. Meanwhile, Fury will take a break to decide where he goes next. The pair had previously agreed a deal to box. However, the fight never happened after Deontay Wilder won his arbitration case, meaning Fury had to face him in a rematch. This is the biggest fight to be made, given that it could be their career’s highest payday. It could easily sell out at Wembley Stadium while doing the same in Saudi Arabia.

Joshua and Fury have their financial futures already secure, meaning that there is no risk to take this fight. It is all about legacy since they were considered one of their division’s best fighters. But their losses to Usyk mean they are now battling it out for who the next best heavyweight of this generation is. The consensus was that it was always Fury. But those two losses may now change that.

Hearn Responds

Meanwhile, Joshua wants to prove that he is the better than his British rival. He was always seen as an underdog between the two. Their commercial value has become a bit closer since Joshua was initially seen as the cash cow. Their recent losses suggested that a fight could be made via an equal split. Eddie Hearn said this was the fight to be made this year.

“Everything I’ve seen on Anthony Joshua’s social media, particularly in the last hour, is very encouraging. He’s not one to call anyone out, but he’s clearly calling them out, and he’s calling out Tyson Fury. It’s the fight that he wants. “Obviously, at the same time, Daniel Dubois [rematch]. I keep saying there are really two fights. Daniel Dubois and Tyson Fury.

“The world heavyweight title is what he wants, but, of course, Fury is a fight that must land on the resume of Anthony Joshua. It must be delivered to the British public as well. I think the real key is Tyson Fury. He’s three weeks off a defeat. He’s probably still upset and probably still reflecting on that defeat. We’ll have to see if he wants to fight again. If he doesn’t want to fight again, what else can Fury do?” Hearn said
