Tyson Fury says Turki Alalshikh is his promoter until retirement

Tyson Fury says Saudi boxing advisor Turki Alalshikh is his promoter and will stay in that role until he hangs up the gloves.

Fury posted on his Instagram story that Alalshikh is "the promoter of the GK, till I retire," according to Bad Left Hook. The statement comes as Fury's promotional future remains a topic of debate, particularly with his proposed fight against Anthony Joshua still unsettled and links to Dana White's Zuffa Boxing growing stronger after the heavyweight attended a UFC event at the White House.

What Fury's declaration means for Joshua fight promotion

Alalshikh does not hold an official promoter's license and has never been listed as the promoter of record for events his money has backed. White has said publicly that Zuffa will promote Fury against Joshua, while longtime Fury promoter Frank Warren and Eddie Hearn have disputed that claim. But fighters and promoters have consistently deferred to Alalshikh when his funding makes a bout happen.

Fury is acknowledging that reality. It is not Warren, who has worked with him for years, calling the shots. It will not be White either. Alalshikh controls the purse, so Alalshikh controls the show.

The caveat is that Fury, who turns 38 in August, has already retired multiple times. His promise that something will last "until he retires" may not carry the weight it would for most fighters. He could have two or three more retirements left in him before the final one sticks.
