Hatton Opposes Klitschko-Fury Comeback Fight

Ricky Hatton has called on the boxing governing bodies to stop Wladimir Klitschko coming out of retirement to fight Tyson Fury.
Reports first indicated that Klitschko was considering returning to the sport to face Daniel Dubois. Dubois holds the IBF Heavyweight Title, meaning Klitschko would become the oldest heavyweight champion ever with a win at 48. The current record is held by George Foreman, who beat Michael Moorer at 45 to become the IBF Heavyweight Champion. Klitschko would have a reason to run things back since Fury beat him the first time. Klitschko never got the rematch after Fury pulled out with an injury.
Fury then suffered from mental health issues as he retired. Fury is coming off two losses to Oleksandr Usyk. The only big fight available for him is the Anthony Joshua bout. The Joshua bout would earn him the most money. However, a loss to Joshua would damage his legacy, especially since Fury was considered one of the best of his era before the Usyk fight. But a Klitschko fight could become a good alternative. But that is not how Hatton saw it.
Hatton Reacts
“I’m not sure I would like to see Wladimir in the ring with a young, hungry fighter in the form of his life like Daniel Dubois. Whether it’s Wladimir, Anthony Joshua, or Tyson Fury, these are people I admire and with me being a boxing trainer and former world champion, I am a boxing fan and always have been since being young, but I’ve had a few tough times when I’ve seen people I like get beat and knocked out.
“He’ll go through all the tests to see if he is fit enough and all of the scans and I have no doubt he’ll be in great shape, but I wonder when you see the Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul fight and Evander Holyfield fighting, is this good for boxing? “Do we need someone in boxing or an organisation to take it out of the boxer’s hands and say ‘you’re too past it Mike’ or ‘you’ve had your day Wladimir, we’re thinking of you and your health,” Hatton said
Dangers
Father time catches up with everyone. Mike Tyson showed that when he boxed Jake Paul. The Problem Child beat Tyson via a unanimous decision in a one-sided win. Tyson pulled out of the initial date after suffering from an inflamed ulcer. He then revealed he wore a compression sleeve on his knee when facing Paul. He later admitted that he blanked out and could not remember the bout.
“I don’t remember the fight that much, I kind of blanked out a little. I remember coming back from the first round, and Jake is doing some kind of, I don’t know what he was doing [a bow]. That’s the last thing I remember.
“I don’t remember [the fight]. But my body was really sore [afterward]. My chest, and my stomach was really sore… The day after I woke up, I said to my wife ‘Why did I do that?’. I just don’t know what the hell was going on,” Tyson stated
Since Klitschko has been out for so long, he risks coming back for one too many fights.
