Grand Arrivals: Usyk Says He Has A 'Secret Plan' For Fury

The Grand Arrivals took place for the Oleksandr Usyk vs. Tyson Fury December 21 rematch.

Usyk enters the fight as the champion, having beaten Fury to become the Undisputed Heavyweight Champion. That extended his undefeated record to 22-0, making him undisputed in a second weight class. Fury disputed the split decision loss, claiming Russia’s war with Ukraine influenced the scorecard. It was Fury’s first loss, showing The Gypsy King was struggling to accept the defeat. While Fury has the chance to avenge the defeat, it will not be for undisputed. The IBF belt is not on the line. Usyk vacated it, as it is now in Daniel Dubois‘ possession.

Usyk knows a win removes any doubt over the first result. Meanwhile, Fury must get the victory if he wants the trilogy. If Usyk wins, he may pursue another undisputed bout with Daniel Dubois. The Ukrainian beat Dubois in a controversial ninth-round stoppage last year. Usyk got up from the canvas in the fifth round after Dubois’ body shot was controversially deemed low. Fury may end up pursuing the Anthony Joshua fight if he loses to Usyk, which would be the biggest bout out there.

Pre-Fight

“I’m just going to use my boxing, like I did last time. I’m not going to do anything drastic, like a total change of gameplan because it’s not needed. If it was five, six or seven rounds the opposite way and it was a landslide, then fine. Then I’d have to change something drastically. “But because it was a very close fight, I don’t really need to change much. I just need to be a little bit more focused and that’s it really,” Fury said

“Against Fury, it wasn’t me who decided this – it was the heavenly virtues who decided this was the way I would win [decision not KO]. But, if I have an opportunity to knock out Tyson Fury in the rematch, I will take it,” Usyk

“When he comes to the ring, it’s Oleksandr’s profession, so he has to fight, and he has to win – but he doesn’t have to hate his opponent. He loves his opponent. He respects him,” Alex Krassyuk

Grand Arrivals

“It’s only talk. We will see. Whatever happens is God’s will. I don’t feel too heavy, I don’t feel too light. I feel perfect. My team and I have a few secrets for Saturday. This is a big opportunity for me, for my country, and for the young people that look up to me and Tyson. This is history! I want people 15 years later to remember when I fought and beat Tyson Fury twice in Riyadh,” Usyk

“I’m the only show in town. It’s the biggest event of my life, so in that regard it’s pretty much the same. From one biggest event to the next biggest event. I’m looking forward to putting on a show as always. I’m going to knock him out. [And] I’m going to give Turki what I promised him in May, a cooked rabbit in his kitchen. That’s my promise,” Fury
