Professional Career

David Cuellar Contreras began his professional boxing career on July 1, 2017, with a unanimous decision victory over Rigo Omar Martinez Hernandez at Arena Querétaro, Queretaro. He quickly established himself as a formidable contender with a series of decisive victories, including a first-round TKO against Israel Huesca Pineda on September 16, 2017, in Queretaro. Cuellar’s early career was marked by several notable performances, such as a majority decision win over Juan Quiros on December 17, 2017, at GYM Nautilus in Nicolas Romero, and a first-round TKO victory against Juan Garcia Angulo on February 3, 2018, in Tlalnepantla. His ability to secure early knockouts and dominate his opponents in the ring became a hallmark of his fighting style.

On June 29, 2018, Cuellar defeated Adolfo Aceves by TKO in the third round at Arena Adolfo López Mateos in Tlalnepantla. This victory was followed by a series of wins, including a first-round TKO against Angel Chavez on July 21, 2018, in Zihuatanejo, and a split decision win over Christian Negrete Benavides on September 1, 2018, in Ciudad Obregon. Cuellar’s career continued to ascend as he secured a unanimous decision victory over Victor Trejo Garcia on November 10, 2018, at Lienzo Charro Hermanos Ramírez in Corregidora. On March 2, 2019, he won by RTD in the second round against Jose Alpizar at Gimnasio Solidaridad in Fresnillo. He then followed up with a first-round KO against Rogelio Gonzalez on April 13, 2019, in Cihuatlan.

A pivotal moment in Cuellar’s career came on June 22, 2019, when he defeated Emmanuel Cerda by TKO in the first round in San Juan del Rio. He continued this momentum with a sixth-round TKO victory over Jose Ramirez Armenta on July 27, 2019, in Tlalnepantla, and a unanimous decision win over Jordan Escobar on September 21, 2019, at Rodeo Santa Fe in Tlalnepantla. In 2021, Cuellar captured the vacant WBC Youth Silver Super Fly title with a ninth-round KO victory over Karim Arce Lugo on June 12, 2021, at Auditorio Benito Juarez in Los Mochis. He successfully defended this title on October 16, 2021, by knocking out Moises Fuentes in the sixth round at the Oasis Hotel Complex in Cancun. Sadly, Fuentes suffered brain injuries during the fight and passed away subsequently.

Cuellar’s impressive performances continued with a sixth-round KO victory over Ricardo Blandon on February 6, 2022, in Cancun, followed by a fifth-round KO against Yader Cardoza on June 17, 2022, in Torreon. On October 1, 2022, he secured a fourth-round KO against Gilberto Pedroza in Tepic, winning the WBC International Super Fly title. In 2023, Cuellar defended his titles with a series of wins, including a unanimous decision victory over Francisco Mendivil on May 19, 2023, in Cancun and a third-round TKO against Marlon Rios Sarinana on August 18, 2023, also in Cancun. His most recent victories include a unanimous decision win over Pablo Ariel Gomez on January 19, 2024, in Chetumal, and a unanimous decision victory against Jose Velasquez on May 31, 2024, at Auditorio Municipal Fausto Gutiérrez Moreno in Tijuana.
