Ex-UFC Champ Mark Coleman Back In Gym After Heroic Fire Rescue - 'Absolute Legend'

Mark Coleman, the former UFC Heavyweight champion, is back in the gym following his recent hospitalisation.

Reports indicate that Coleman was taken to hospital after saving his parents from a house fire. The incident happened on March 12, close to Toledo, Ohio. The fire in question started in the kitchen, resulting in the 59-year-old rushing in to save his parents. Coleman then went back to save his dog, Hammer. That is when Coleman suffered from smoke inhalation. He was subsequently airlifted to the hospital. His friend, Wes Sims, said the following at the time.

Coleman’s Recovery

“I’m a very firm believer in the power of prayer. I sent family and some friends a few pictures of Mark Coleman’s current condition. I know Mark, if he could talk he’d say ‘film this s***, Wes, we are going viral. Mark’s parents’ house burnt down last night.

“Mark saved both [his parents] and went back for Hammer, his dog. He was life flighted to Toledo and is currently intubated and sedated. I swear to God he’s one of the toughest individuals ever created, been through so much a movie at this point could not give his life’s work justice,” Sims said

While Coleman’s dog passed away, he was conscious in hospital in an emotional moment with his daughters. The following clip shows Coleman hugging his daughters. He can be heard saying the following.

“I swear to God, I’m so lucky. I can’t believe my parents are alive. [And] I had to make a decision. I got out of my room and went to the door and it was already horrible. I couldn’t breathe. [And] I almost had to go outside, but I went back and got them. [And] I can’t believe it. I got them (his parents) but couldn’t find Hammer [his dog],” Coleman stated

Coleman At The Gym

Now, Coleman is back at the gym. The following video shows Matt Brown in the cage with Coleman, who has been coaching the UFC fighter. Coleman is flexing his muscles. He has reassured fans that he will take things easy and not rush things.

“I promise everybody I’m taking it easy but it’s time for me to get back into a routine. I have so many families; blood, wrestling, mma, sober, hammer house and more I’m so blessed I am so grateful you have all made this recovery, amazingly easier, much faster, much more peaceful I am mentally strong, but like anything you need to do the work to stay strong Sober is cool carnivore diet, nine ancestral tenants hammer house for life.” – Mark Coleman stated

The news just shows Coleman’s resolve, which is why he reached the pinnacle of the sport. He became the UFC Heavyweight Champion of the World at UFC 10 after beating Don Frye. He became champion once again at UFC 11. His feats earned him induction into the UFC Hall of Fame in 2008. The latest story adds to his legacy.
