Derek Chisora Headbutts Delivery Driver
Derek Chisora has found himself in mass controversy after a video showed him head-butting a Deliveroo driver.
Chisora is known for his controversial antics. He spat water at Wladimir Klitschko in the ring while slapping his brother, Vitali Klitschko. Further controversial moments included throwing a table over during the presser for the Dillian Whyte fight. He was also involved in a brawl with David Haye before their fight. The latest incident is a step further, as Chisora took out his anger at the Deliveroo driver.
The following clip shows the Chisora and the worker having a heated argument. It is not clear what started the incident. However, Chisora ends things by head-butting him. The incident will likely have consequences for Chisora, who is preparing for his upcoming fight with Joe Joyce.
Chisora’s Incident
The clash takes place on July 27. Both fighters are at the tail end of their careers. Chisora arrives into the fight with a win over Gerald Washington. However, his record has been poor of late. He has had two wins in his last six fights, losing to big names such as Tyson Fury, Joseph Parker, and Oleksandr Usyk. At 40, there have been calls for Chisora to retire. The boxer has shown small signs of being punch drunk, with worries that he may have CTE.
Joyce is also fighting for his career. Zhilei Zhang stopped him in two consecutive fights. That was a massive worry, as Joyce’s biggest asset was his chin, which looked vulnerable. While he bounced back in his last fight to beat Kash Ali, it took him until the final round to get the stoppage. That was far from ideal since he was expected to overpower Ali. It is too early to say whether Chisora’s incident will throw the Joyce fight in doubt. However, it is not ideal with less than two weeks before the fight. Given the bad reputation Chisora has developed, his incident will not help him. Otto Wallin revealed he had no respect for the heavyweight boxer.
Chisora’s Criticism
“I’ll be honest, I don’t like Chisora. He was very disrespectful to me over in Saudi Arabia and I don’t like him. I think that, not just judging from that, Joyce beats him and probably stops him. We’ll see.
“Joyce had those tough losses against Zhang, but to say that he should just retire from those two fights I don’t think is fair. We’ll see how he comes back now, how he looks. He takes a lot of shots so he’s got to be careful, but I think he will get rid of Chisora.
“[And] he was at the press conference over in London yelling at Parker, being very disrespectful to him. He kind of did similar stuff to me backstage in Saudi Arabia, so I can’t really stand him to be honest. I was over there sparring him when he was gonna fight Fury and he only lasted like a week then I was sent home. I can’t stand him,” Wallin said
