De La Hoya Stirs Eddie Hearn And Skye Nicolson 'Rumors' - 'It's No Secret, You're Phony Eddie'

Oscar De La Hoya fuelled rumors that Eddie Hearn was allegedly in a ‘relationship’ with female boxer Skye Nicolson.

De La Hoya made those comments during his segment ‘Clap Back Thursdays.’ Oscar has not been on good terms with Hearn despite them both being with DAZN. He has repeatedly accused Hearn of being a poor promoter and criticized his entry into the US market. De La Hoya also questioned Hearn’s matchmaking following Dmitry Bivol’s loss to Artur Beterbiev and Regis Prograis’ defeat to Jack Catterall. During his segment, he criticized Hearn for wanting to make a fight between Shakur Stevenson and Floyd Schofield.

De La Hoya vs. Hearn

Shakur was meant to fight William Zepeda next. The latter is his WBC mandatory. Reports indicated that Shakur had agreed to deal to box the Golden Boy fighter for a bout on February 22 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Zepeda had just secured his victory against Tevin Farmer in his last fight, setting up the narrative for a fight. All that was left was for Zepeda to agree to a deal. However, there was a major spanner in the works once it became clear that Zepeda had injured his hand. That left Hearn with a problem. He had to find Shakur’s next opponent since Stevenson had also seen his fight with Joe Cordina fail.

Hearn reached out to Golden Boy Promotions to make an offer to Floyd Schofield. Schofield is only 22 years old, meaning he does not have the world title experience needed for such a fight. De La Hoya questioned why Hearn would make a WBC Lightweight Champion chase that fight when there were other bouts available for him. Shakur could target fights with Frank Martin, George Kambosos Jr. or even run things back with Edwin De Los Santos. And then Oscar turned his attention to the Nicholson rumors. While Hearn has not yet said anything, the comments were damning indeed.

“It’s no secret. Eddie and Sky Nicholson have been linked romantically since 2022. Rumors have been flying throughout the boxing community about them for years. We don’t wear like Baby B Jordan, bro…And I guess I was wrong about one thing, you’re not lonesome, Eddie. You’re linked to several women, so you’re phony Eddie,” De La Hoya said
