Conor McGregor Wants More Movies After Road House - 'Think About The Movies You Can Make Around Me'

Conor McGregor wants to make more movies following the release of Road House.

The Notorious stars alongside Jake Gyllenhaal in the remake of the 1989 film. Gyllenhaal plays Elwood Dalton, a bouncer at a Florida Keys roadhouse. McGregor is the villain in the movie, portraying Knox. The Irishman has received rave reviews for his performance, suggesting that he could get further roles. McGregor has already revealed that he has other options for roles lined up, which he is keen to explore.

“We have to talk. That’s what I’m saying — I don’t know and I don’t know whether they know what to come at me with. What can you come at me with? Hollywood now is lined up. I actually can play loads of roles. Think of the amount of movies I could do? There’s Arnold Schwarzenegger and then there’s Sylvester Stallone and then all these guys, and they have all these great movies made around them.

“Think about the movies that you can make around me. You know what I mean? That could be written around me. And don’t think [UFC executives] don’t know that. Don’t think they don’t know that this is all going on as well. So I don’t know what they’re going to come out me with. Like I said, Lorenzo [Fertitta] probably would’ve came after me already,” McGregor said

McGregor’s Future

This naturally raises question marks over McGregor’s UFC return. His last fight ended in a loss to Dustin Poirier in 2021 at UFC 264. The Irishman broke his leg and took his record to three defeats in his last four bouts. He has been chasing the Michael Chandler fight for this year.

The Irishman announced he was fighting Chandler on June 29, only for Dana White to shut that down. But recently, McGregor and Chandler stated that they had received the go-ahead for a fight in the summer. While that may have been the case, the UFC has not made an official announcement.

“We got confirmation a few days ago that it’s all systems go. And ‘The Mac’, ‘The Notorious’ will be returning to the UFC Octagon this summer. I had [my training] camp in Dubai [months ago], I had a camp in Cannes. I was preparing, and then I was kind of getting nothing back. And then other things came up and I kind of dipped out. But now, it’s on. So, there’s no messing now. I cannot dip out now,” McGregor said

Chandler Reacts

“I’ve got the official announcement. It’s happening this summer. I can’t tell you the actual date, but it’s happening this summer, yes. Me vs. Conor. Obviously, this has been a year in the making. We did The Ultimate Fighter, he’s been off obviously doing the Road House movie and all his other aspirations and accolades outside of the cage, so here we are, this summer, I’m ready.

“The official status is we have an agreement. We are fighting this summer. We’ll let the court of public opinion speculate on what the date is, but it’s definitely this summer. We’re giving you a window that we’re going to be fighting in. But yeah, it’s always been Conor and I,” Chandler said
