Breaking News: PFL Buys Bellator

The PFL has officially announced that they have bought Bellator.

The news has been a long time coming ever since reports emerged that it would require $500 million to acquire the MMA organization. Those reports could not be ruled out by Bellator’s Scott Coker, who refused to rule out a sale. Dana White had made it clear that the UFC had no intention of purchasing the MMA outfit, which made the PFL increasing favorites. Their recent investment of over $100 million by the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund through SRJ Sports Investment showed the PFL’s plans moving forward. And now the latest move has doubled down on that as outlined by the PFL chairman, Donn Davis.

Davis Reacts

“PFL is now a global powerhouse in MMA. Our Bellator acquisition turbocharges PFL’s mission to innovate the sport and become the industry co-leader. The combined PFL and Bellator fighter rosters are second to none in MMA. We can’t wait to bring MMA fans what they have been asking for – best vs best with the PFL Champions vs Bellator Champions Mega-Event,” Davis said

In addition to that news, Davis confirmed that Coker’s position remains in place if he does aspire to stay and contribute to Bellator. Regardless of what the case may be, Davis spoke on his plans to make a ‘champions vs. champions’ card in 2024. Not only that, but there would be eight events in a ‘Bellator International Champions Series’ in 2024. That news has gotten the attention of many people in the MMA community, as shown below.
