Benn’s Exoneration Appealed, Baumgardner Responds To Her Failed Test

The British Boxing Board of Control (BBBofC) and the UK Anti-Doping Agency [UKAD] have appealed the decision to remove Conor Benn’s suspension.

The British boxer had failed two drug tests for Clomiphene, which was confirmed by VADA. As a result, Benn’s upcoming fight with Chris Eubank Jr was pulled, as the BBBofC decided not to sanction it.

Thereafter, Benn was given a suspension by UKAD in April. However, the suspension was removed by the National Anti-Doping Panel (NADP) which allowed him to box once again.

Although that may have been the case, UKAD and the BBBofC remained silent on the matter, as they reserved the right to appeal. And now they have acted by enforcing that procedure.

Benn’s Defense

Benn’s camp had allegedly argued that he was not subject to UKAD’s rules due to the fact that he did not have a BBBofC license.

Therefore, there were questions over whether UKAD could enforce the VADA findings. In addition, it is also claimed that Benn’s team argued that his urine had shown signs of food contamination.

It was apparently claimed that it was most likely from eggs. Regardless of what the case may be, the sport of boxing continues to suffer from the fall out.

Baumgardner’s Failed Test

In addition to this, Alycia Baumgardner has expressed her desire to push back following her failed test for Mesterolone and Methenolone.

According to Dan Rafael, the current undisputed junior lightweight champion’s urine test produced the positive test. This was reportedly done on July 12th, 2023.

The timing of it has been controversial since it was three days prior to Baumgardner’s win over Christina Linardatou

Despite this being the case, the champion has continued to fight back. And she confirmed that all will be revealed in due time.

“As a professional athlete, I and I alone am responsible for what I put in my body, and my body is a temple. I am also a proud role model for any young woman or girl who seeks to follow in my footsteps. I take those responsibilities very seriously -which is why I know that I did not and would never put these substances in my body. I plan to keep you all updated every step of the way as I work to ensure my reputation as a clean athlete remains fully intact,” Baumgardner
