Following retirement and persistent health rumors, Jon Jones confirmed he is in active negotiations with the UFC to fight on the White House card on June 14.

The 38-year-old former heavyweight champion signaled that the allure of the card—slated for the U.S. 250th anniversary —has convinced him to fight again. Jones had walked away from the sport in June 2025 after a Tom Aspinall fell through. While Dana White previously claimed it was too risky to trust Jones, the narrative has shifted.

While Jones did not name an opponent, reports suggest he could face former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Alex Pereira, who vacated his belt to move up. The most significant hurdle remains Jones’ physical condition. In early February, Jones disclosed a diagnosis of severe arthritis in his left hip—to the point where he already qualifies for a total hip replacement.

Jones Reacts

“My left hip is covered in arthritis. I went to bed in so much pain during my last camp. The UFC knows the extent of it. If I’m going to endure that level of pain one more time, the reward has to be something special. For me, that’s the White House,” Jones said

However, based on his comments below, he is willing to have one more historic fight.

“I’m in negotiations with the UFC about this White House thing as well. Very, very proud American and I cannot wait to represent one more time. So, we’ll see what happens,” Jones said
