Poirier Teases A Comeback After Training Return

Dustin Poirier is back in full training at American Top Team (ATT), just seven months after his retirement at UFC 318.
The former interim lightweight champion originally bid farewell to the Octagon last July in New Orleans following a BMF title defeat to Max Holloway in their trilogy. While Poirier quickly transitioned into a desk analyst role, his recent activity suggests he may come back.
At UFC 324 last month, Gaethje claimed the interim lightweight title with a victory over Paddy Pimblett. Following the fight, analyst Josh Thomson publicly proposed a rubber match between the two to settle their 1-1 rivalry. “The Diamond” didn’t hesitate, taking to social media to state, “I’ll come back for that one.”
And now that could materialize. UFC flyweight Cody Durden shared footage alongside Mateusz Gamrot, capturing Poirier geared up and sweating after a session. Poirier also fueled the fire himself, sharing a gym photo with the telling caption: “Getting beat up over here.”
Poirier’s Return
Rumors are now swirling that Poirier is eyeing a spot on the UFC White House card on June 14, 2026 card at the White House. This is especially since Dustin has said he has struggled to deal with life once he retired.
“I miss that too. Pushing myself every day with my [training partners]. I mean, some of these guys are my best friends in the world. I’ve had so many great nights with them. We’ve laughed together. We’ve cried together. We’ve built each other up. We’ve made each other better. It is just like a brotherhood.
“When you’re in the thick of training camp — let’s just say I’m five weeks into a training camp, I’m hungry, the diet’s crazy. My body’s beat in that moment. I think in my mind, ‘I would rather be anywhere in the world doing anything else but this, sweating and bleeding and training hard right now.’ But then I get away from it and I’m like, ‘There’s nowhere else I’d rather be than doing that,” Poirier said
