Deontay Wilder has reacted angrily to Jarrell Miller’s recent comments as a potential fight could be in the offing.

Wilder has not been in the best form lately, having come up short in his last two fights. He lost a unanimous decision to Joseph Parker, a defeat that prevented him from securing an Anthony Joshua fight. He then followed that up with a knockout defeat to Zhilei Zhang, taking his record to just one victory in his four bouts since working with Malik Scott. Despite pressure to fire Scott, Wilder has continued to remain with his current trainer. He has also shut down any suggestions that he has lost his hunger, as retirement is not on his mind.

Wilder’s Form

“Zhang is a very big, dangerous southpaw. Deontay got caught with a shot that put him in an unbalanced position, and Zhang did his job. Deontay has the heart of a lion and is willing to go out on his shield in the ring. He’ll be back. Deontay will fight again. He still has a bright future in boxing, especially at the high level. Losses happen in boxing, even to the greatest fighters.

“Right now, he’s doing very well; recovering, enjoying life, and heavily involved in real estate and investing. He just had a great vacation with his kids. Life is good for him. The same type of people who want Deontay to retire told Muhammad Ali not to fight George Foreman. They said George Foreman shouldn’t have fought Michael Moorer. These naysayers are part of the sport, and we need them. They provide the energy that keeps the fighters motivated,” Wilder said

He is preparing for his next fight against Tyrrell Herndon, which will take place on June 27. Wilder is expected to come out with a straightforward victory, but another fight could be brewing in the background. Miller recently claimed that he would smash Wilder as he prepares for his fight against Fabio Wardley.

Wilder On Miller

The Wardley fight is an IBF Interim Heavyweight Title bout, meaning the winner goes in line for Daniel Dubois’ full title. Miller recently lost his fight to Dubois and was stopped. He followed that up with a majority decision against Andy Ruiz Jr. in his last fight, with many believing he was lucky not to suffer a defeat on the scorecards. Wilder has now had his say on Miller’s recent comments, mocking him by saying the only thing he can smash is burgers.

“The only thing he’s smashing is burgers, and he barely do that well. With him, it’s talk, talk, talk. But if that fight does land for him, I can’t wait for it. I hope he’s already paid for his grave burial. I don’t play around. If I saw him today I’d slap the f**k outta him right now. Deontay Wilder has returned. Everybody better respect the name,” Wilder said
