Sunny Edwards Vs. Galal Yafai Predictions - 'His Slick Skills Will Prevail'

Sunny Edwards takes on Galal Yafai this weekend, as boxing insiders gave their predictions.

Edwards is a former IBF Flyweight World Champion after having beaten Moruti Mthalane to get the belt in 2021. Sunny defended the belt four times successfully to set up a unification against Jesse Rodriguez last year. However, he came up short, eventually getting stopped. This was the first loss of his career. Edwards bounced back with a win over Adrian Curiel in June. This will be his first fight in England since June of last year. Edwards already has a win over Yafai in the amateur ranks. He will fancy himself to do it again.

“Galal is one of the best in the world and he has been for a few years now. [This is] especially in the amateurs and in the Olympics, and he’s shown that he’s taken to the pro game like a duck to water, and he’s done everything asked of him.

“I know that some people maybe asking if this is too soon, or wondering why the fight is happening. But I was always ready for this fight, it was inevitable. Maybe I thought it would take a little bit longer. But we’ve got the fight now, I’m happy for it and I’m looking forward to it,” Edwards

Edwards Vs. Yafai

Yafai made his pro debut in 2012 and has risen in the ranks since then. He is 8-0, with six knockouts to his name. He has three knockouts in his last four fights. Yafai secured a win over Agustin Gauto in April before beating Sergio Oliva in September to continue his unbeaten 2024 run. But this is by far his biggest test, as questions remain as to whether he can produce on the biggest stage.

I know we’re Flyweights and we’re small, and people don’t care as much about it, but this is a proper fight. I’m not coming to take the money and live off that, I’m coming to do what I have to do and I’m sure he is as well,” Galal

Sunny Edwards has reached the peak level of the sport and I believe that he is still young and hungry enough to win this one on points.
