Shakur Stevenson On Being A Free Agent, Fury-Ngannou Fight Trailer Goes Viral

In today’s boxing news, Shakur Stevenson has expressed doubts about his future with Top Rank moving forward as the boxer’s contract is set to expire next year, with many options moving forward.

Stevenson is currently getting ready to face Frank De La Santos on November 16th, 2023, for the vacant WBC belt at lightweight. Although that may be the case, Stevenson had been linked with several big fights only for them to fall through.

A bout with Devin Haney was in the offing after the ‘Dream’ had made a 25 percent offer to Shakur. The latter knocked back the offer on the basis that it did not reflect his true value.

Meanwhile, a fight with Gervonta Davis had been ruled out due to Stevenson’s lack of commercial pulling power. As such, the boxer was reliant on Davis’ side to make on offer since he was not A-side.

And since nothing was forthcoming from Tank’s team, Stevenson couldn’t get the big fights made. And yet, now it appears that Shakur could become a free agent to open up more doors moving forward.   

Stevenson’s Future

“I’m considering every option possible. Let me make sure that’s known. “Once I fight in the big, big, big fights or that big fight where I get my foot in the door and then take over and just keep taking over and nonstop dominate, that’s when I’m going be more so satisfied. That’s when I’ll be happy,” Stevenson

Becoming a free agent would undoubtedly make it easier to secure the bigger fights, as well as earn Stevenson the bigger paydays. But for all of the financial gains that could follow, Stevenson was more focused on securing his legacy.

The boxer admitted that his aim is to become one of the best of all time. And given that he has been around the greats, having worked with Floyd Mayweather and Terence Crawford on his game, Stevenson had no limit to what he felt he could achieve.

Stevenson’s Goals

“This is more so the love of the sport of boxing that’s driving me and making me want to be one of the greatest. That’s my passion; that’s the goal that I want to achieve. I want to be one of the greatest boxers ever to do it and put my name in the history books like Floyd Mayweather, Andre Ward, Pernell Whitaker, and Terence Crawford.  Them guys.  Once I’m able to put myself in that history book, I’m going to be satisfied,” Shakur

Fury-Ngannou Trailer

Much in the same way, Tyson Fury’s upcoming fight with Francis Ngannou has continued to gain momentum on social media following the latest trailer for the fight.

The pair are set to face each other on October 28th, 2023, in what will be a mega crossover event where Ngannou will make his boxing debut. Prior to it being announced, however, the fight received a mixed response.

Many criticised Fury’s failure to fight Oleksandr Usyk instead as an undisputed title was on the line. But given that the two fighters have now agreed a fight for all of the belts, the criticism towards the bout appears to have died down.

In response, the following trailer for the fight is now increasing the anticipation for the fight. In the following video, Fury and Ngannou can both be seen putting in the hard yards as they train extensively for their upcoming bout.

And as they do so, the ground can be seen shaking to signify the importance of the fight. Although Fury is seen as the heavy favourite, which is understandable since Ngannou has never boxed before, the response on social media to see the fight happen has been increasing.

Both Stevenson and Ngannou have the chance to leave a huge legacy moving forward. With that being said, the next few months are crucial moving forward for both. So how will it end? Time will tell.
