Sean O’Malley Shares Wild Police Call Story

UFC Bantamweight Champion Sean O’Malley released camera footage showing four police officers pointing AR-15 assault rifles at him.

O’Malley revealed he was live streaming while playing a video game. As he did so, he saw the police outside. The MMA fighter felt he might have been a ‘swatting’ victim. This is when the authorities are called to a location, thinking it is an emergency when no such situation exists.

Celebrities are often targets, with people using ID hacks to make it appear the emergency is coming from a real place. O’Malley stated he was put in a police car for over half an hour after the hoax call stated he had killed his parents. Some officers recognized who he was as they eventually realized it was a fake call.

O’Malley Reacts

“People find out where they’re at and they call the cops, say something happened that obviously didn’t happen, and then they’re…getting swatted. I peek out my head out the window to see if maybe it’s something else, but then they’re on the intercom and I see a bunch of cops. They’re like, ‘Walk out with your hands up.’ So I…walk out, hands up. I was like, ‘I’m just going to listen. I could get shot.’ I was like, ‘OK, if I just listen to them, I’ll be all right.

“But you never know: Someone sneezes, pulls the trigger – I’ve got…shotguns pointed at me, AR-(15)s from like four different cops pointed at me. I was like, ‘I’m just going to listen and walk back. I was sitting in the back of that cop car in handcuffs and I was like, ‘Dude, that’s crazy: I had freedom five minutes ago. Now I have none. Zero.’ … They said I killed my parents or something like that, and they thought there was an active shooter inside,” O’Malley said

O’Malley’s Career

Inside the Octagon, O’Malley has been performing. He secured the bantamweight belt via a second-round TKO win over Aljamain Sterling at UFC 292. He then made a first defense of the title against Marlon Vera at UFC 299. Vera was the only man to have given O’Malley a loss. Sean came through with a tough unanimous decision win, solidifying his position as one of the best UFC fighters.

O’Malley has now won six on the bounce. He has even hinted at the idea of making a historic fight with Conor McGregor at 155 pounds. That is unlikely due to the weight class difference, as McGregor will fight Michael Chandler at 170 pounds on June 29 at UFC 303. O’Malley’s performances have won him the respect of McGregor, who praised O’Malley for fighting the best.

“I like Sean O’Malley… he kinda got caught in the crosshairs. I said to him, you know, I owe you the best day of the world champion, because if you’re the world champion, who cares who was against. You should go until you are the champion. You know, fight, fight everyone and anyone at any given moment,” McGregor said
