Pereira Vs. Rountree Jr. Predictions – ‘Wins By KO, He Is A Beast’
Alex Pereira takes on Khalil Rountree Jr., as fellow UFC fighters gave their predictions.
Pereira defends his UFC Light Heavyweight Title after having knocked out Jiri Prochazka at UFC 303 in his last fight. That was the second time he knocked out Jiri after winning the belt when he faced him at UFC 295. The victory made him a two-weight UFC champion after having won the middleweight belt. A win puts him in line for another big fight. Alex has already indicated that he would like to move down to middleweight one more time to take on Dricus Du Plessis for the middleweight belt.
That was after Du Plessis submitted Israel Adesanya at UFC 305. Pereira lost his middleweight belt against Adesanya when the latter knocked him out at UFC 287. The other opportunity is to face the Russian fighter Magomed Ankalaev, who is the leading contender in the division. He has won 10 out of his last 12 fights. The others were a draw and a no-contest. Rountree Jr. is no easy task. He is on a five-fight win streak. Khalil has knocked out four of his last five opponents. He defeated Anthony Smith in his last fight. The American knows that a win makes him a massive PPV star, but the MMA insiders had Pereira coming out on top.
Pre-Fight
“When I step in there, you get to expect the best version of me. And the best version of me is not someone who switches my plan and then out of nowhere in my career, decides to become a wrestler. So that’s kind of like, I’m just trying to make that point clear,” Pereira
“I am as a fighter to completely switch the game plan just to secure a win. The main reason I’ve always wanted this fight really is for the fans. You got 2 of the best strikers in the world going at it. And that’s what I wanna give the fans. That’s what I wanna give you guys,” Rountree Jr.
Predictions
“I got Pereira. I think he knocks Rountree out, it’s a dangerous fight but I think he is the better striker,” Mario Bautista (bantamweight).
“Realistically I think Alex is going to win, but I love Khalil. I hope Khalil pulls it out but I think Alex wins,” Geoff Neal (welterweight).
“I’m actually going with Rountree. Pereria can get caught and Khalil has power,” Dan Ige (featherweight).
“Khalil. I think he shocks the world and people are writing him off way too early,” Vince Morales (bantamweight).
“Man, what a fun fight. Both are great strikers so it should be fun. But, I truly believe Pereira will be one of the best MMA fighters of all-time when his career is over, so I’m going with Pereira,” Alex Morono (welterweight).
“That is a very exciting fight. I’ma actually going with Khalil. Alex gets hit, and I think the southpaw stance will give Alex trouble. I’m going with Rountree to KO Pereira,” Brady Hiestand (bantamweight).
“I’m going with Khalil Rountree to get the upset. I think he can catch Pereira, I think people are overlooking him,” Steve Garcia (featherweight).
“Alex Pereira by KO. He is a beast,” Isaac Dulgarian (featherweight).
“Alex Pereira by KO,” Josh Fremd (middleweight).
