Liz Carmouche will face Viviane Araujo in a flyweight bout with title implications at PFL San Diego on June 27, the promotion confirmed Wednesday.

The bout serves as co-main at Pechanga Arena, with Carmouche ranked second and Araujo ninth in the PFL’s 125-pound ladder, per Sherdog. MMA Fighting first reported the matchup. A.J. McKee and Salamat Isbulaev headline the card in a featherweight clash.

Carmouche’s tournament run sets stage for contender fight

Carmouche, 42, swept the PFL flyweight tournament in 2025 after dropping a decision to Taila Santos the year prior. The San Diego native stopped Jena Bishop in the final and notched two other finishes during the three-bout stretch. She left the UFC in 2019 and has gone 12-1 since, including a Bellator flyweight title reign.

Araujo arrived in the PFL following a 7-6 stretch in the UFC that ended last year. The 39-year-old Brazilian rebounded from alternating results by beating Shanna Young on decision at PFL Chicago in April. She owns wins over Karine Silva, Jennifer Maia and Andrea Lee but dropped bouts to Tracy Cortez, Natalia Silva and Alexa Grasso before exiting the promotion.

According to a PFL release cited by Sherdog, the winner could earn the next crack at undefeated champion Dakota Ditcheva, who recently returned from a months-long hand injury layoff. The main card airs on ESPN 2 at 10 p.m. ET, with prelims on the ESPN app at 7 p.m. ET.
