O'Malley Vs. Dvalishvili Predictions - 'Catch Him Early, The Fight Can Be Over'

Sean O’Malley faces Merab Dvalishvili at UFC 306, leaving many question marks over who will win.

O’Malley defends his UFC Bantamweight Belt for the second time at The Sphere, which will hold the first-ever combat sports event in the arena. O’Malley defeated Marlon Vera in his last fight at UFC 299, while Merab has ten wins. The winner will make history as they fight during Mexican Independence Weekend in a fight that is expected to break the live UFC record set by Eddie Alvarez vs. Conor McGregor in 2016 at UFC 205. With that being said, MMA fighters had plenty to say about who would win.

Predictions

“I think he’s ready. You know, it’s like title fight. You never know what’s gonna happen. [And] you know, this is very big fight, very big competition, you know. And yeah, on his division is Sean Amen. He’s a champion. He’s very good opponent. I think, if you decide, I think O’Malley as well. I want Merab, to be honest, because he’s from Georgia, were neighbors. [And] I want Merab to win because it’s gonna be very interesting,” Khabib Nurmagomedov

“That’s an interesting fight, because a lot of people think, I mean, people get confused because O’Malley is a funny guy. They think he’s not training, but he is just as professional as most of us and, you know, people think he just can throw one punch. He’s a great fighter. The thing with that, I will be more worried about Merab’s chin, because he’s been dropped by everybody…I mean, if you catch him early, the fight can be over,” Marlon Vera

“Yes, it’s very good. It’s very good. They fight next month. I will try to go to see this fight in Las Vegas. I want to watch this fight, and I hope I will fight with a champion like beginning next year, January, February, before Ramadan. We’re gonna have a very good time… I don’t know [who wins]. It’s difficult for me. Doesn’t matter. I can fight with both,” Umar Nurmagomedov

Further Predictions

“The one thing that Cheeto failed to do… is to be able to get close enough to Sean. It’s not a matter of Sean’s out scrambling. He’s defending these takedowns. They’re not even taking the shot. Sean does something. I don’t know what it is, but there’s something those guys are feeling where they’re feeling like, now’s not the time.

“And Merab, one thing about a man, those are good shots. He gets in close. There’s a setup that he looks for…Sean is doing something, because every opponent has felt just as uncomfortable in that moment, and I think that that’s gonna be the big difference. Reach is everything in this fight. Sugar, Sean is my answer,” Chael Sonnen

“I just, I feel like O’Malley’s game and his relationship with his coach, they’re very good at deconstructing fighters and finding those opportunities. And even in the smallest of moments in fights, he has the skills to be able to put his hands on someone. And you know, it was, it was incredible, really. Like, look at the timing on the knee that he landed on on Cheeto that would have put most people away,” Dan Hooker
