Oliveira Gives Up On The McGregor Fight – ‘He Fights When He Wants’

Charles Oliveira says the Conor McGregor fight no longer interests him.
The former UFC Lightweight Champion had been chasing McGregor by offering to be a back-up for the Irishman’s UFC 303 fight against Michael Chandler. McGregor eventually pulled out of UFC 303 clash with a broken toe, meaning he has not fought since his 2021 loss to Dustin Poirier at UFC 264. Reports indicate that McGregor could fight Chandler on December 14, although Dana White has not officially said anything.
Oliveira On McGregor
Oliveira has not hit the heights that made him the champion. His form has dipped since losing his lightweight title to the current lightweight champion, Islam Makhachev, at UFC 280 in 2022. He has one win in his last three fights and lost his previous bout to Arman Tsarukyan at UFC 300. Now, the Brazilian has chosen to move on from McGregor.
“To be honest he already has all the lights that he needs. When I suggested that it would be a good fight it was because it would bring a lot of money for me, it would bring a lot of money for him. That’s not his vision anymore. I don’t even think he’s going to fight anymore. He fights when he wants. Michael Chandler waited for him for two years and at the last minute he gave up. He will fight when he wants,” Oliveira said
One fighter who has expressed an interest in fighting him is UFC Bantamweight Champion Sean O’Malley. The champion and McGregor exchanged verbals recently once Ryan Garcia tested positive for Ostarine after his boxing win over Devin Haney. McGregor responded by slamming Garcia and O’Malley, who also failed a test for the same PED in 2019. Garcia received a one-year ban, and his result turned into a no-contest. Meanwhile, O’Malley received a six-month ban. The Notorious offered Garcia and O’Malley the chance to spar with each other at his Black Forge Inn Pub.
McGregor Vs. O’Malley
“Cheated the weight and was juiced, lifetime ban. Sad to see, sad to say. Sad and a bit sick. Don’t come near me if I see you ever Ryan Garcia. I am actually disgusted. This Ostarine it reminds me of Sean o malley was on that as well. I don’t like this, I’ll bust yous both up, do yous want a spar I will set flights right now for you both for a full on spar each.
“Hotel, black forge inn the lot. #letssparomalley and #garcia two little ostarine heads I’ll ride you both like yous are ostriches…What do you think you are at ? If I was Haney’s dad you’re dead no matter what for doing that. Crazy…You little fool. Get your head together cos I gonna smash it in with elbows if you don’t. Fair play Devin well done. Your performance has just become even more heroic! Bravo,” McGregor, stated
O’Malley hit back by calling McGregor a drug addict. Now, he wants to take on the two-weight UFC champion.
“I weigh 155, 160, there’s weight classes for a reason…I will chirp Conor [McGregor] because I do believe I can beat Conor in a fight. [And] I think stylistically, I could beat Conor…I wouldn’t call out somebody if I thought I couldn’t beat them. Conor’s 5’7″, he’s thick but he’s short…I don’t think I would put him out on one shot [though]…Let’s do it,” O’Malley said
