Romero Plans To Fight Until 52 Ahead Of Till Clash

Yoel Romero plans to keep fighting until he turns 52 years old.

The 49-year-old veteran told Hablemos MMA that only divine intervention would stop him from reaching that target, per MMA Junkie. Romero faces Darren Till at BKFC 94 in Manchester on Sept. 20, a fight he views as part of his final competitive cycle in combat sports.

Romero On Remaining Years In Combat Sports

"I said I was going to retire at 52 unless my creator tells me, 'Your time under the lights is over,'" Romero said in Spanish. "If God tells me it's time to go, it's time to go. That's the only way I'd leave this dream, this goal of fighting until 52. This is my last run."

The former UFC middleweight contender made clear he has no plans to tie himself to one promotion during his remaining years. Romero said he wants work mobility across BKFC, IBA, and other organizations to stay active. He described the Till bout as part of finishing his final Olympic cycle on a high note.

Romero promised a finish against Till when asked about the matchup. "Yes, of course I'm finishing him," he told the outlet. "Of course, I'm finishing. I'm finishing him. I'm finishing him."

The Cuban wrestler turned bare-knuckle boxer competed for Gamebred Fighting before joining BKFC. He told Hablemos MMA he is working hard and in good form heading into Manchester, thanking God for allowing him to perform at this stage of his career.
