Worries Emerge Over Keyshawn Davis’ Mental Health – ‘He’s Going Through It'

There is concern over Keyshawn Davis’ mental health after he was thrown out of the Scope Arena in Norfolk, Virginia.

Reports indicate Keyshawn was thrown out after he and his brother jumped boxer Nahir Albright backstage in the locker room. Keyshawn was in attendance at the arena after he had seen his fight get canceled, as he missed weight for the Edwin De Los Santos fight. Rather than stay at home, Keyshawn attended the stadium where he should have headlined. His brother, Kelvin Davis, boxed on the card, losing a majority decision against Nahir Albright.

Some time after, Albright was seen with a contusion over his right eye. He informed the media that Keyshawn and his other brother Keon jumped him. The altercation was broken up by Albright’s trainer, as the boxer then called out Keyshawn.

"I was here [backstage] taking in the win, and it was hard fought, [when] Keyshawn and his little brother jumped me. They started walking up to me all tough and putting his head against mine. Then he grabbed me and I was about to swing but my team and everybody grabbed Keyshawn and everything. It was crazy. It’s definitely bullshit but it adds fuel to the fuel. Keyshawn, you have to run it back to me inside the ring and not outside of the ring. He is approaching me on my best night, you feel me? We have to settle it now," Albright said

Concern

They had previously fought, as Keyshawn won, only for the result to get turned into a no-contest once Davis failed for marijuana. Keyshawn and his brother were thrown out of the venue, raising concerns over his mindset. Teofimo Lopez has said Keyshawn is not in a good place.

"Hey guys, I think it’s really important for us to think about Keyshawn Davis and his situation. I know personally that he’s going through it mentally and how I know this is because I was there, I’ve been there. Only difference is that we never reacted the certain kind of way that he has. Other than that though, I think we should all send prayers to him, to his family, to his newborn child as well. I think he’s young, still trying to figure out himself in the game and a lot of frustration comes with that.

"The media is not easy, I think anybody in here knows that it’s not easy. But wishing the best for Keyshawn Davis. God willing he finds his peace and his place at heart in the sport of boxing and understand boxing — no one’s bigger than the sport my man. No one, not even myself, brother.

"And I just wish the best to you, your family, to your mother mainly — I know she’s hurting right now — sending prayers to your mother, and sending you and DB3 the best, guys. Keep it up in the sense of positivity, forget about the negativity. And to Nahir, feel better man and whatever you guys plan on doing on that case I think it’s a good move on whatever you guys decided to do with your team. Things like this are unacceptable," Lopez said
