Dana White signed Taner Trembley to the UFC despite his decision loss on the Contender Series this week, telling reporters the war he delivered with Roman Puga made him impossible to pass on.
Trembley dropped a unanimous decision to Puga on Tuesday night at the Meta Apex, losing by one round on each scorecard after three rounds of back-and-forth action. White signed both men immediately, saying the bout was too good to reward only the winner.

White On Rare Contender Series Double Signing
Speaking after the event, White said the decision was easy, per MMA Junkie. "It was incredible. Tell me what fight was bad tonight. There wasn't a bad fight on the card. It was an incredible night," he said. White also revealed that UFC matchmaker Sean Shelby pushed for Trembley to get signed alongside Puga.
White noted that one UFC decision maker thought the bout should have been ruled a draw. The UFC boss did not disagree. Contender Series alums Sean O'Malley, Carlos Ulberg, and Jamahal Hill have all won UFC titles since graduating from the show.
