Dana White said Islam Makhachev's new UFC winning streak record may stand for the rest of his lifetime.

Makhachev extended his run to 17 consecutive victories Saturday when he beat Ian Machado Garry by unanimous decision at UFC 330, breaking Anderson Silva's long-held mark. White told reporters after the event that the lightweight turned welterweight champion could push the number beyond anyone's reach if he keeps competing at his current pace, according to MMA Junkie.

White's Full Assessment Of Makhachev's Historic Streak

"If he keeps going like he says he's going to keep going, I mean, it might never be beaten, at least while I'm alive," White said. "So it's very impressive what he did. And again, my thoughts on how Ian performed tonight, so like I said, you can flip that whole script and then drop it on Islam on how impressively he beat a big, strong, rangy guy who was doing damn good work."

The UFC president has been openly critical of Garry's performance in the championship rounds, saying the challenger lacked finishing instinct when opportunities arose. White also took issue with Garry's respectful gestures late in the fight.

Makhachev plans to return before Ramadan begins, which could put him back in action by early 2027 if he avoids injuries. The champion defended his welterweight strap for the first time after previously holding the lightweight belt.
